My name is Jon Dasher and I am from Fleming Island Florida (Just beneath Jacksonville). I am a freshman mechanical engineering student, hoping to specialize in working with cars or bicycles. I am also an amateur music producer, but then again it seems like so are half the people I meet now so I usually don't even include that. My dad is an architect with his own firm and my mom is a freelance researcher, working mainly under National Geographic. I am a member of the Honors Program at UF and am also part of the UF triathlon club, the TriGators. Swimming, running, and biking have been a big part of my life for the past 5 years, and I've competed in close to 15 triathlons of different distances. After a few injuries however my focus recently has shifted more towards weight training.
I have been fortunate enough to have travelled to places like Rome, Athens, and Hawaii, and I hope to be able to travel to many more throughout my lifetime. A few of the places highest on my list of destinations to travel to are: Germany, New Zealand, and Sweden. I am fascinated with the European way of life; One day I hope to move somewhere in Europe to better experience their culture.
I own an Infiniti G35 coupe and ever since my dad handed it down to me it has been my pride and joy; I treat it as if it were my baby. Even though it just had its eleventh birthday, my car still looks as good as the first day I saw it at eight years old. I also own a Specialized Transition tri bike, which I treat as my second child, giving it baths every 2 weeks or so. As you can probably tell, I have a passion for any sort of vehicle, whether its a car, boat, plane, etc. I find myself usually most fascinated with the design aspects of these vehicles but I also enjoy learning about how they work. I hope to one day own my own bicycle company or aftermarket car modification company, which is what sparked my interest in taking this introduction to entrepreneurship class.
